Spring Fever and 2018 Patch Planning

Nina Foster

It has been an extreme winter even for Vermont. January’s cold snap felt like the end of February. I have a major case of spring fever, so I have been plotting and planning the flower patch. During one of the snow days (actually not snowing, but -20 degrees, so you really can’t do a whole lot!) I was cozied up with coffee and endless online catalogs. I started ordering tubers to distract myself - lost in the warm fantasy of the season to come - and let's just say I have reworked my map to include an extra 50-75 foot row for dahlias!

I think I am most excited for the sweet peas. I have at least 24 varieties...sigh...and I can hardly wait to lie down between the rows and take a deep breath. (Hiding between sweet pea rows is the best!)

So much to look forward to! What are you most excited about in your garden this season?
